What Will Teachers' PREP Do?

 

  • We will raise awareness of the implications of ethical issues in education.  

  • We support the pluralistic nature of public education, and will work to ensure that families of all beliefs (religious or not) feel confident in entrusting their children to the public school system.  

  • We will raise the professional profile of Surrey teachers by focusing on educational and bargaining issues, while keeping social issues in perspective.  

  • We will explore a variety of new and innovative ways to encourage teacher involvement and propose the following policies:  

  • Propose a process for STARA Reps to take polls of their staffs on major issues.  

  • Investigate the feasibility of having the STA president elected at school sites.

  • Investigate ways to make professional development a higher profile (proposing a new voting position for Pro-D on the STA Executive Committee).
